Introducing Dr Emma Allen, DC : A little bit about me!
I am excited and blessed to be joining the Immunity KC team as a Functional Medicine provider. Holistic health care is near and dear to my heart. Throughout my own health journey, I have been treated by a variety of wonderful providers including naturopaths, chiropractors, and other holistic healthcare professionals. Their empathy, knowledge, and understanding of the body’s interconnected systems was integral to my healing process.
My philosophy of treatment as a holistic provider is based on treating you, the patient, as a person rather than as a collection of symptoms. The way each of us experiences pain is highly individual and personal, and each person has their own unique background, values, and health presentation. Your symptoms may not always fit into a specific box. Your digestion, sleep, pain, anxiety levels, metabolism, and any symptoms and diagnosed conditions specific to you are all connected, and your body tells us the story of its underlying health—physical, mental and emotional.
My background provides me with a unique perspective on pain and musculoskeletal health and how it relates to other common chronic conditions. I believe deeply in the benefit of physical medicine (hands-on therapies provided by the doctor) on regulating the nervous system and reducing pain. I often utilize gentle vagus nerve stimulation techniques, breathing work, myofascial release, and specific adjustments in conjunction with functional medicine.
Everyone’s health journey is different. My goal is to promote long-lasting changes to your health and focus on achievable preventative methods to allow the body to function as it was designed to do. I take an integrative approach, and the functional medicine process often allows me to identify concerns and refer to other healthcare specialists as we all work towards the common goal of better outcomes for our patients.
Some fun facts about me: I grew up in the greater KC area as the oldest of 7 siblings. We are very close; my sisters and brother are my best friends. My husband and I met in high school and are recently married;starting our first home together with 6 months of renovations been a joy and such a fun challenge.
I am so thankful to be in this field and connect with people daily on their journey towards health. Watching them progress into living their lives to the fullest is truly my passion. Greatly blessed to be joining Dr. Jess & the incredible team of women at Immunity KC!
